Cultural highlights during your vacations in South Tyrol

Explore the lively city of Brunico/Bruneck with its historical Old Town and rural, picturesque surroundings. The area offers a range of possible leisure activities in the stunning natural beauty of the Dolomites, as well as cultural highlights in the attractive resort of Brunico/Bruneck. Hotel Post is located in close proximity to the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz ski resort, which is part of the Dolomiti SuperSki network of ski areas, the largest of its kind in the world. The city is also a great place for shopping days, bars and restaurants. During a relaxed stroll through the center of Brunico/Bruneck, you will also discover a number of museums, churches and traditional houses.

The legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner opened his fifth and latest museum project in July 2011. Here in the newly renovated Brunico/Bruneck Castle (once home to the bishops of Bressanone/Brixen), you can admire a selection of exhibits from all over the world which tell of the lives, trials and tribulations of mountain people.

This outdoor museum is well worth seeing and covers a total area of 10 acres in the stately “Mair am Hof” residence. The exhibition shows traditional arts and crafts and ancient household tools. Traditional animal species can be found in the garden of the residence.

This unique geographical attraction came to be thanks to natural erosion processes. Rain water filled ditches and crevices, creating solid pyramids made of hard sand, decorated with rocks.

Military cemetery

The military cemetery is located on a hill above the Old Town of Brunico/Bruneck, just opposite the Castle, in the middle of a beautiful larch tree forest. Hundreds of soldiers who fell in World War I and II are buried here.
