MMM Ripa at Brunico/Bruneck Castle

The legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner opened his fifth and latest museum project in July 2011. Here in the newly renovated Brunico/Bruneck Castle (once home to the bishops of Bressanone/Brixen), you can admire a selection of exhibits from all over the world which tell of the lives, trials and tribulations of mountain people.
National Folklore Museum

This outdoor museum is well worth seeing and covers a total area of 10 acres in the stately “Mair am Hof” residence. The exhibition shows traditional arts and crafts and ancient household tools. Traditional animal species can be found in the garden of the residence.
Earth Pyramids

This unique geographical attraction came to be thanks to natural erosion processes. Rain water filled ditches and crevices, creating solid pyramids made of hard sand, decorated with rocks. Not to be missed!
Military cemetery

The military cemetery is located on a hill above the Old Town of Brunico/Bruneck, just opposite the Castle, in the middle of a beautiful larch tree forest. Hundreds of soldiers who fell in World War I and II are buried here.
