Winter sports in Plan de Corones/Kronplatz

Whether you are into Alpine skiing or snowboarding, the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz resort is the place to be, with a total 100 km of descents waiting for you. The resort is one of South Tyrol’s most modern ski resorts and part of the Dolomiti SuperSki area, the world’s biggest association of ski resorts of its kind. Thanks to snow cannons covering 100% of pistes you will always find guaranteed optimum conditions in Plan de Corones/Kronplatz. Moreover, a brand new family piste is going to be opened in the winter season. In the season 2011/2012 the new Ried-downhill slope has been added to the already existing spectacular descents. It also connects the ski region with the Val Pusteria railway line.

A gratis ski shuttle bus takes you daily to the ski lifts of Plan de Corones. Once you return to the Hotel Post our heated ski depot will be the ideal place to store your equipment.

Sellaronda departing from Plan de Corones: The legendary ski round tour in the Dolomites can be reached from the valley station Piculin. There, a ski shuttle will bring you to Sompunt in Alta Badia at intervals of 20 minutes. From here it is about an hour of skiing to Corvara, the starting point to the Sellaronda. You can ski it in clockwise direction (following the orange signs) or anti-clockwise (green signs). You will require a Dolomiti Superski day pass.

The spacious valley of Val Pusteria/Pustertal is ideal for cross-country skiing – the Riscone/Reischach cross-country tracks start at only a few kilometers from Brunico/Bruneck, and lead along superb scenic routes in the surrounding area, as well as into the Anterselva/Antholz biathlon center.

Tobogganing is an activity that is great fun for all age groups. In the area around Plan de Corones/Kronplatz you will find a variety of toboggan runs. No toboggan day, of course, is complete without a cozy time at an Alpine hut, followed by an adventurous descent. Sleds can be rented on many huts.
